Rivers and canals of St. Petersburg
An excursion along the rivers and canals of Saint Petersburg offers a fascinating journey through 'the Venice of the North' on comfortable ships and boats! You will dive head-first into the magnificence and brilliance of Saint Petersburg.
The city looks quite different from the water, than from the embankments. The founding of Saint Petersburg, is inextricably linked with the waters, seeing as initially Peter I wanted a city of rivers and canals. The city was powered mostly by boats, ships and little boats, from the front facade of the palaces and houses, out onto the River Neva, and along the basin, the Fontanka. This is why, on the tour you will notice a completely different city, admiring the magnificent places: Sheremetievskiy, Stroganov, Yusupov, Mariinsky, Shuvalov, and that's not all...

Spend a Great day outside of the city exploring the most charming neo-classical palace of Emperor Paul I, the only son of Empress Catherine the Great. Pavlovsk is a wonderful place to get away from it all. While more humble and less touristy than the palaces at Peterhof or Pushkin, the reconstructed palace at Pavlovsk is still very interesting. The palace feels more like a family home, then like a royal palace. The palace park is a great place to walk or have a picnic. It has romantic ruins, statues, forests and streams. Right now, it’s dotted with cross-country skiers, horse-drawn sleighs, and there is an outdoor ice-skating rink, where you can hire skates.

The Catherine`s Palace and Park
Tsarskoye Selo is about 25 km far from St Petersburg.
Tsarskoye Selo, or Tsar’s village, was the home of the Imperial family from the days of Peter the Great right up to the time of the last Tsar Nicolas II. It is a fascinating monument of the world’s architectural and gardening arts of the 18-19-th century. Tsarskoye Selo is quite different from Peterhof. Here, there are no massed fountains and no vistas over the sea. Here you are much inland, in a beautiful English style park, unrestrained by the geometrical formality of Russian Versailles. The compositional center of the ensemble is the Catherine Palace, containing exquisite objects d’art, furniture, paintings, unique collection of porcelain, amber, bronze, etc. The Tsarskoselsky Liceum, an elite school established in Russia in the early 19-th century for noble offsprings which the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin attended, is situated next to the palace.
A treasure of the Tsars' residence is Catherine's palace – a magnificent piece of architecture built in Russian Baroque style. There is the admirable luxurious furniture in the palace's Grand hall and the 'Golden Hall', the front hall, in the middle of which is the world famous restored 'Amber Room'. Once in this hall, you will feel the spirit of Elizabeth and Catherine's era, and the eras of Alexander I, and you will see the rare subjects of arts and crafts.
